3. That makes me want to cry!
I think I'd just gotten to college when "Whatta Man" came out.

Oldies, wow--but you know, puts it in perspective, doesn't it. Hip hop may be all hip now, but in twenty years it'll be as old as Art and Garfunkel seems now.

8. Don't cry!
It was just a cruel April Fool's joke! I'm sorry!

But you know, when I was a wee, wee lad, many, many, many moons ago, they started pushing 1950s rock and roll as "oldies." Actually this was about 1970, so this music was really only 15 years old. But they were already making it ancient history. I'm surprised they haven't started on the early 1990s yet.

But, it's totally believable. I think they're not pushing that as "oldies" music because people are trying to stay younger now... forty being the new thirty and all that.

I'm actually curious if they won't come up with a different name for it--can you imagine Britney Spears on the "oldies" station?

15. I'm DYING for that day to get here!
Just kidding. ;)

You're right. When the Baby Boomers grew up, they started calling "oldies" things like "classic" or "music of your life." Britney will become "vintage." :eyes:
