I am entering into a partnership selling high quality custom musical instrument and hi-fi cables. I make my living selling on ebay but I only sell a certain type of item that requires the same kind of auction every week.

I need some advice on what would be the best way to sell multiple copies of the same cable. What would be the better arrangement, a fixed price auction or an ebay store?

...to gauge the interest. If your items generate bids and sell fast, auction-style is the way to go, because there's the chance your starting price will go up. List multiple copies of the same thing in a Dutch listing - saves you some time and trouble, as well as potentially some money.

If you find sales are slow, put the items in your store, and use your other auctions to guide customers to your store. Those insertion fees will kill you otherwise.

Fixed-price listings are rarely worthwhile, IMO, and I usually only use them when there's a special on the insertion fees.

If you have a lot of the same item to sell, I'd test the waters first with a handful of listings, and then decide from there.
