I'd like to thank everyone offering condelences
It speaks volumes about the person doing it. Thanks from a person who has only recently discovered just how important his faith is to him.

1. I remember only this Pope and am going to appreciate...
the numerous opportunities to learn more about his life and life's work. I had serious differences with some of the Pope's views and direction in which it took church policy, but I appreciate the loss for so many millions--make that billions of people. I extend my wishes and sympathy for all.

I also celebrate your finding your faith. This is a very personal decision and an important one for so many. It certainly appears to be so, for you.

2. Tell me JK - what brought you back to your faith? (If you left it).
I walked away years ago.

A lapsed Baptist (and intend to stay that way).

However - I do send along my condolences to you. It's a sad day, indeed.

4. I never really left truly
Well in my preteen and early teen years, some of my friends were devout Catholics and also really right wing, like anti choice, very anti gay, war mongrels, looked down on the poor, etc. What brought me back however was a good many things. What brought me back however was seeing what kind of people my godmother who died in 2001 and my mom's parents were, they are and were tolerant of others, they did not look down on you because you were poor, gay, etc. More recently a belief in god and a heaven got me through losing my other grandmother, to know that she would be with her husband and loved ones from the past really gave me comfort.

5. I see and understand.
The hypocrisy drove me away. I believe in the teachings of Christ - just am not convinced that everything else exists.

Be with people you like today - raise a toast to the Pope.

:toast:

7. Your welcome John, you know I was raised Catholic...
and even though I'm no longer practicing, I've been going though some very mixed thoughts and emotions over the past few days...

You know you have my support, and you always will...

Take care kid...

9. Important day in history. I haven't changed out of my nightgown --
I am subtly depressed. I do not understand the nature of death nor do I think I ever will until it happens. The sadness is that it is getting closer and I am not embracing it yet.

10. Heck, JK, even we heathens know you've had a great loss.
More than a few of us envy you who have Faith.
