In honor of today's theatrical remake release of "Freaky Friday",
I am going to sit back and watch the original and as such the most creative version from 1970 on my equally outdated laserdisc player!

Hollywuss isn't getting a dime for another pathetic remake.

2. Is this the 3rd remake?
Or the 4th?

I know there was the original and a made for TV remake already...

3. 3rd, and why do they remake these anyway?
The original movie was made in 1976, though it looks like it was made in 1971.

Then there's the 'made for tv' 1995 version that the execs knew wouldn't fly in the theatre.

Then came 2003, when desperate execs would try anything on the big screen, little as it is...

And Jamie Lee Curtis of all people?!! She's better off peddling cell phones. :eyes:

And why do people use the excuse "to retell the story for a new generation" when they do remakes anyway? They're never as good as the original, and so what if the original is 30 years old? Nobody's redone "Casablanca", "Gone with the Wind", or other 'classics' yet...

4. Shhh!
Don't give them any ideas.

As to why...it's cheaper than writing something new (or rather hiring someone to write something new).

5. And one can't forget
all of the remakes they made in the 80's that weren't officially Freaky Friday but took the same concept and rehashed it (I cant cite both of them, but I remember one had Judge Rheinhold playing the father and the other had the kid from Wonder Years.)
