4. Well,
Sony Mavica CD500 digital camera, with manual aperture and shutter settings...

Thanks to its uber-bright flash, I had to cover it with my finger to reduce intensity (though one pic of the cactus was deliberately overexposed).

7. Yours is a gorgeous bird, too! How young is she?
Some claim Senegals are dimorphic; the female's orange/yellow extending farther up than the male (who sports the "V" pattern)... still, they're beautiful as they are, regardless!

8. She is a he.
At least I'm convinced of it (by the "V" pattern you mean the vent feathers?). If not by markings, at least by attitude and demeanor.

I'm guessing he's about 12 years old; he's banded, but I forget the exact date right off hand.

Right now, he's talking, chattering away and screeching to be let out of his cage.

:-)

Mine's 8 years old.

Also, I recently bought a particular toy for Zoe. After 3 days of trepidation, he's since been playing with it NONSTOP:

10. Sounds like a senegal.
Although the trepidation can easily last more than 3 days. :-)

He is a pretty bird.

11. Thanks!
And that's certainly true; while Senegals can be boisterous and even terrify Macaws, they have quite the yellow streak that definitely defies description.

13. I take it those birds are from Senegal.
Hence the name. I've never heard of that species of parrot. They are nice looking.

14. my dad has an Easter cactus
I kid you not. When what I thought was my christmas cactus started blooming at Thanksgiving, we started looking at all the different varieties on the internet.....main difference is the shape of the leaves. My cactus is indeed a Thanksgiving cactus. And my dad's is in full bloom right now too.

Interesting - he just returned from a cruise from Florida to California through the Panama Canal....he said in Jamaica, there are Christmas cacti as big as trees.
