My computer keyboard is broken (dammitall!)
Fer crissakes....My computer keyboards won't type....so I'm at a "Screenz" outlet right now, typing what I can't at home....I miss youse guys.

ANyhow....if anyone asks about me, tell 'em my pooter's on the blink. That should sound vaguely odd enough to keep 'em occupied.

Until I get this shit fixed....g'bye, DU.

1. If it's a laptop
try turning it off and taking out the battery for a few minutes - then start it up again (with battery back in place)...

2. Or if its a desktop...
Go to Wal-Mart (i.e. any large retail chain) and buy a keyboard for $10. :P

I've had my $10 Wal-Mart keyboard for 7 years now.

3. And if it is a laptop...
Buy a USB keyboard, to carry you over.

5. Nah, it's an eMac.
And I know about as much about computers as I do about quantum dentistry.

4. Fuck Wal-Mart.
I wouldn't shop at Walmart if my dick was on fire and fire extinguishers were a penny. I'll never give those buttknobs MY MONEY!

But what about like, Circuit City? Do they have eMac keyboards cheap?

6. Any old USB keyboard should work on an eMac.
Or, if the eMac DOES require a Mac-specific keyboard, Microcenter & CompUSA have Mac stuff, and you can just get the cheapest Macally keyboard.

But when you live in a mid-size town in Oklahoma, there isn't much of an option. And I meant it more as a generality - Circuit City, Staples, Kmart, whatever.

You could always just buy it from Apple.com. Wired keyboards are $29.

9. So now it's working.....sorta.
I have to keep it at an angle and push down reall hard on the keys....ad some letters don't get transmitted to tttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttthe screen at all..and some get locked down. Weird.

I guess I should just go get another keyboard.

Thanks for the advice, ya knuckleheads!

10. You should hear the fan
that cools the processor on my old antique. I'm using it up. Planned on getting a Gateway soon anyhow. I may end up having to leave for a few days too soon. I hope not though.

11. did you spill a drink on it?
you can pry the keyboard apart, wipe down the parts with a damp sponge, dry them off,and reassemble.it's not easy, but it can be done.i've done it,and i'm no computer genius, let me tell you! :argh:
