My dream job is to one day work with exotic felines.



These guys are seven weeks old.

Aren't they precious?

Nothing quite as impressive as a wild cat. Too bad we're making their world uninhabitable.

Gorgeous eyes! Are they jaguars?

The cutline: Seven weeks old black panther cubs Ajun and Ajan are presented to photographers at the Wuppertal, western Germany, Zoo, on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003. The panthers were born at the zoo on Aug. 30, 2003.

But I don't know what the difference is. Maybe it's that jaguars are spotted and panthers tend to have all black fur. But you can see spots on these panthers too.

I understand that the American panther is not a "Panther", it is a lion.

What's in a name, a cat by any other name is as sweet. Unless they eat you.

I'd name them Mary Kate & Ashley.

I just love cat babies!

He should be able to speak about their beauty in a year or so, after they repair his throat.

'Skull surgery' for magician Roy

Part of the skull of injured animal trainer Roy Horn has been removed to reduce pressure on his brain, according to a US newspaper.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal also said Horn was paralysed on the left side of his body after suffering a stroke.

Horn, part of the famous Siegfried and Roy act, was mauled by a male white tiger during a show in Las Vegas on October 3.

But it galls me when I hear about folks owning them as pets. I was watching a National Geographic special on MSNBC and it was just horrible some of the stuff they were talking about. This one guy lost his daughter because his ex-wife and her husband bought the little girl a pair of wild cats (I think they were tigers but I could be wrong).

There is no such thing as a "Black Panther"...It is actually a Leopard where the mommie and daddy both carried recessive genes for this fur color.

Who knows what colors of cats there once were...I too love these animals and have dedicated my lives to their survival via genetic research (well, not yet...but im getting there.)

Because the "activism" of conservation can be so tiring and evoke so much anger, I decided to pursue my graduate degree with the hopes I can give something back to the animal kingdom to combat the so much we take.

And YES...These animals are dangerous predators with thousands of years of instinct evolved in them. Even if you raise a big cat from a cub, it is always dangerous. Even Cheetah's (a fairly light cat w/ dull claws) can pose a great threat to a person.

Heck even my domestic calico attacks me now and again and I raised her from a kitten...its natural. Only difference, she causes very little harm (with the exception of some scratchers here and there.)

IF YOU want to work with exotic felines do so in the confines of an AZA accredited institution, you will be truly rewarded emotionally and spiritually especially if you love animals.

I have to wrestle Streak like crazy to clip her claws.

She just ain't having it!! :D

And then watch my own little cat. When she behaves similarly, I think of how she's just like her relatives. That's part of the charm of having a cat, I think, because they are so similar to wild cats but yet they are domesticated.

One of them really likes the cat food commercial where a black and white housecat stalks a zebra.

...but all she's interested in is winter vacation spots, as you can see by what's on the TV screen.
