7 days until I head to Boston!

Excited and scared at the same time. I've never been more than twenty minutes from my family. I've lived in Colorado all my life. All my friends and family live here.

We are spending a ton of money on this move. What if I hate Boston? What if I hate law school?

I've never had to start over in a new city. I'm going to miss so many people, places, and things. They don't have gigantic mountains on the east coast. They don't have Chipotle. They don't have decent Mexican food. No more going to my favorite Ethiopian restaurant where it takes an hour to get your food. All my favorite local shops will be 2000 miles away :-(

I will get the ocean, though. I love the ocean. Too bad I'm veggie or I'd be psyched for the sea food :-) Boston has much better public transportation. The Dem Convention is in 2004. I can volunteer for Kerry's campaign. I'm only a few hours from NYC. I've never been there so I really want to visit.

Maybe it won't be so bad :-)

2. Don't worry. We don't bite here... err, there now for me
and the people will talk fast and funny, just let it sink in, read up on the history of the area, read some Thoreau and Emerson (before school starts, natch) and enjoy.
NYC is a fun train trip away.
Newport RI is great, so is Cape Cod.
You will be more and better rounded with mountain and ocean experience. And, there are mountains here too, just shorter, but just as deadly and challanging.

3. Good luck on your new adventure
Your right moving away can be both exciting and scary. I went out of state to college so I've had that experience. Going to law school, you will meet many people with whom you share a common interest so you shouldn't be alone for long. You'll have the chance to be acquainted with a new set of restaurants and shops as well. If things do not work out well, you can always come back home, but be sure to give everything a fair chance.

4. Well, I'm jealous...
Yes, it's going to be hard at first and you will be homesick but think about what a wonderful, life altering adventure this will be especially in a city as beautiful and historical as Boston.
You have no idea how much you will grow emotionally and idealogically and in so, so many other ways. I went through something very similar and now wish I hadn't made it so hard on myself.
This is an exciting time in your life! Please try to enjoy it to the fullest!

Wishing you the best! Good luck! :)

6. Boston has tons of great restaurants
You're sure to find several excellent vegetarian restaurants there. The last time I was in Boston, I had such a good time just walking around, looking at the menus some of the restaurants have taped in their windows. I loved watching them feed the penguins at the aquarium, too.

Good luck at law school!!!
