Lurkers, come forth!

Lately I've noticed that a lot of my threads tend to attract a goodly number of posters with very low post counts. I'm all set to give them a hearty Welcome to DU reply but check the profile and they've been here longer than me. Apparently my pet peeves are in line with the kind of things that also annoy DU lurkers.

Regardless, come forward lurkers. Rise, state your name, introduce yourself, then go start a vanity thread or something. Or not, whatever you're comfortable with. But please feel welcome and please post more. We need your wisdom.

I read DU every day, but it's rare that I actually post something. I've been rather chatty today, though.
Anyway, nice to see you all!

Only got the energy to post after going on powerful antidepressants. Still trying to pick a topic for a vanity thread.

Good to see you, seriously, and glad the antidepressants are working for you. I should definitely get back on some SSRI or another, but never cared for the side effects. So glad something worked for you.

I started on Zoloft but it gave me panic attacks. Lexapro's better for me, only side effect was that I got chubby but I've lost the weight. What were you on and how did it annoy you?

Paxil (laid me out), Celexa (little effect), Lexapro (little effect), Neurontin (just made me feel weird), Xanax (started noticing diminishing returns, ie beginning of habituation), Welbutrin (little effect), Strattera (didn't do much for me), BuSpar (didn't do a lot), Luvox (worked, but eventually caused liver damage). Probably a few more in there over the years, plus a bit of talk therapy.

Of those, Paxil + BuSpar worked GREAT, more or less along the lines of what they say cocaine does for you, but the shrink decided that inducing hypomania wasn't really a solution for my problems. (Darn it!) Note that the PDR and package inserts now warn against prescribing two SSRIs together, which they didn't at the time.

Luvox was great for a couple of years, but as I say I got all fraidy cat when my liver function fell off. While I know that liver tissue regenerates, I still am a little chicken about it. Also I couldn't help but notice that while all the SSRIs made me feel better and more cheerful, they couldn't make me motivated and I still wound up treading water (though more cheerfully). So I've been muddling through without them these last few years. Girlfriend still thinks my jokes are funny anyway.

If we planted ourselves on the sofa and racked up so points like it was a slot machine we could be up to several thousand in a couple of days. :crazy:

Lurking instead of really posting since Febuary. Dunno why to be honest. I guess I really just don't have much to say. From November to Febuary I posted a decent amount but not much since "shrugs".

Was funny, though. On the other hand, the larger proportion of lurkers are probably lurking at work. If you happen to be up later, I'd appreciate a working hours' kick.

On the other other hand, I was very tickled when nobody responded at all so I could throw out the "Very funny, lurkers!" kick. That was actually what I was hoping would happen.

When lurkers are asked to come forth, we only get the major posters!

I registered a couple of years ago, but lurked without posting at all for at least a year before that. I'm kind of shy & not very good at communicating so I tend to look & listen much more often than I participate.
