Some fun Canadian cities.
Edited on Fri Oct-17-03 02:44 PM by HEyHEY
Okay..I'm bored and some one asked about Canadian cities so, I posted my two favs. First Vancouver. Which is just plain beautiful really interesting and very Liberal. It has a lot of cool nooks and crannies, as well as a huuuggge cultural diversity.

Then Quebec city....an easy town to fall in love in, amazing, you feel like you're in europe. REally old buildings, nice people, great food and rockin nightlife. Liberal in a French Canadian kind of way.

both great places!

1. Niagara Falls, Ontario
Interesting tourist traps including one about people who have gone over the falls in barrels, and a ride over a whirlpool.

8. A really creepy factoid
A family friend is a trooper there and the whirlpool is where the bodies pop up after they've gone over the falls. They always show up at the same time -- two or three days after the person has gone missing. There have been times when folks have "staged" a Falls suicide and if the cops don't find them in the Whirlpool at the specified time they start to look elsewhere.

Just a little bit of creepy Falls trivia.

was fun in the SARS days...we had it to ourselves. Gananoque has some beautiful places to stay (believe it or not Best Western is nice) and a casino. I am from the states, but live near Kingston now, a college town full of funky stuff. I give all of Ontario 2 thumbs up!!!

7. Tour Train!
My husband is from Kingston. He actually hates it there and has never been back, but we do love going up to Vancouver a few times a year. It's so beautiful and we have a lot of friends there.

The Smugglers played at our wedding, by the way.

5. Halifax
Heaven on earth. Great pubs, Celtic music, lots of students, right by the ocean, friendliest folks you'll find anywhere. And I say that as a Newfoundlander.

19. Well, I only have spent a total of three hours there
And I didn't get laid and couldn't find a drinkin' hole, so I really can't judge if it's fun based on the couple hours I spent smokin out front of the train station!

21. Ya gotta check out the different art galleries and stop by The Forks.
Winnipeg has a LOT more than your average city of 710,000.

24. Nope, Fargo. But I used to have a summer cabin in the Whiteshells.
Edited on Fri Oct-17-03 05:54 PM by northwest
As a young kid in Fargo, my family would spend six weeks in the summer and a week in the winter in and near the Peg every year for many years. I know how to get around the Peg almost as well as Minneapolis, the city I lived in from 3rd grade to tech school. My family would still continue to go up there every summer after that. after Fargo and Minnepaolis, Winnipeg is like my third home.

I got to college in Fargo now, and hopefully I'll get to WPG for a few days this winter (even tho the weather will SUCK).

And BTW, I'm a HARDCORE Jets fan, and I'm supporting the grassroots drive to get NHL hockey BACK to Winnipeg!!!:-)
