Before you try to link Iraq to WWII. Remember, not a single American GI died in Germany after Germany surrendered.

I'm sure that people tried to make a connection between Vietnam & WWII when the anti-war movement started here.

I just thought it was an interesting historical point. In the middle of history, things seem and are messy.

When we look back, we tend to use REALLY rosey glasses.

We spent tens of billions of dollars reconstructing Germany and France after WWII, and now, just 50 years later, neither one will give us the goddamned time of day, even though we saved France's ass twice in 40 years.

So why waste our fucking time and money in Iraq when they will just hate us in 50 years? Is that your point?

no one hates the US....they hate vicious murdering thugs, and the fact the US gov got overthrown isn't the American people's fault (most not even aware of that yet, it seems)
remember, also, the US never entered either part one or two of the European civil war until...part 1-1917, part 2-1941 iow years after killing started, and in both cases mad schemes by elements of US gov were enacted to get the american people to go along...the 'lusitania sinking' and of course pearl harbour.
if anyone saved France's ass it was the USSR which, as Churchill said 'tore the guts out of nazi germany'
believe it, the US entered both times to help/save Britain....France prolly was not even thought about.
