The Spoilers

Max is a top and highly paid professional assassin in the year 2073.

He is sent by his boss, Kelina Fleet, to "fire" a defrocked Rand-Murakami executive in Sector 12-21A Crux Centaurus/Sub-Component 7. As Max prepares to be dropped into Urban Zone 6-9, he remembers Kelina’s cryptic remark about this being the last field deployment that she’ll be sending him on. Max is slated to be promoted when Kevin leaves the firm, Executive Expediters, for bigger and better things. Life will be good, he thinks.

Max returns to the present as he drops over his target's residence, using an HP G-Suspension Backpak. The 7,000 meter drop and landing is textbook, of course. Once Max defeats all of the protective protocols and enters the house through the skylight, he makes his first scan. Two sightings. Once in he eliminates that duo of minor henchmen with speed and precision. Advancing on the center room, he notices a phantom signature on his primary motion sensor.

He points his weapon, a MagnaTek 12 millimeter auto-pistol, with 50 explosive fléchette rounds and a psycho-sympathetic targeting system, at the shadowy phantom and fires into the dark. He strikes his target, but notices that his bullets has no effect.

The shadow is now running towards him at full speed.
