"Take lots of pictures, you aren't going to remember anything"
This year's gotta have T-Shirt logo for New Orleans tourists.

French Quarter Fest - April 8-10

Free Music throughout the streets of the Quarter, food vendors all over the place, the weather forecast is outstanding

Shrimp Pasta
Stuffed Crab
Crawfish etoufee
Seafood Gumbo
Gator on a stick
and the menu goes on and on and on

Just another boring weekend in New Orleans...

1. Hi BOSSHOG! Wish we were there in the Big Easy!
I bet it will be just perfect weather. Have a good time and drink a beer and a cafe au lait for us DUers who can't be there. Please post pictures if you can.

Are ya'll gonna have a DU meetup over the weekend?

Laissez les bon temps roulet!

3. Hi Cottonbear
Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 01:07 PM by BOSSHOG
Will do on the beer for you and on letting the good times roll. Tomorrow is our 31st anniversary so we are going to celebrate at the Fest on Friday. Also we'll stop by St Louis Cathedral and light a candle for the Pope. I always take my camera to the quarter and will try to post (will need a little technical assist with that). No meetup this weekend but by golly we need to have one. I believe New Orleans is probably the most DU city in the country.

Got lots of impatiens out back and lots of hummingbirds. I planted Melompodium for the first time this year. Its a pretty yellow blooming plant (blooms all season). I have it bedded around a Pine Tree with wine red verbena hanging just above. Our Wave Petunias are going crazy and the hydrangeas are hinting that this will be a great year for them. I also have some Variegated Hibiscus around our little wishing well. They are incredible. The azaleas are just about all gone except for the Encores which bloom three times a year (at least). Enjoy your Azaleas. Take care and I'll have a nice cold one for you.

Please share my post with your husband, especially the menu part.

5. Thanks in advance for the beer toast!
Your garden sounds wonderful (and colorful!)

We have redbuds, forsythia, quince and cherries blooming here. The dogwoods are just starting to bloom. It has rained so much lately that I've not had a chance to garden. Things are slowly drying out (just in time for more rain tomorrow!) I need to rake up leaves and winter debris, mulch and prune. I had to take down a couple of vines that died over the winter and now my garden will have more sun.

My azaleas are putting out new leaves and will bloom in May. I'll have to post a picture of the azaleas and the flamingos in all of their pink glory!

Have a good time!

2. I was at that a few years back, Saw Alan Toussaint twice
Given his rare live appearances, I thought that was outstanding. He had a trumpet player with him named, I think, James Thompson who was amazing. They compare him to a young Louis Armstrong.

4. The Music at the French Quarter Fest
is incredible. The local talent is just too good to describe and its all for free. And Louis Armstrong Park is just a block off the French Quarter. What a great city to live (near).
