Beware the RC plane addiction, it's very powerful. I'm a sick puppy.

The Plane:

^ That's not me BTW. :)

And the Engine:

1. How cool!
I used to love watching people fly their RC planes in a field out by the local airport.

Was the body finished when you bought it, a kit, or "from scratch"?

5. I just ordered it online
It's what's called an ARF (Almost ready to fly). I'm usually the type that likes to build from the ground up, but the trend lately is ARF's. All the major components come pre-finished, it's just a matter of putting them together and installing the radio equipment and engine. Should take about 3 evenings to assemble.

I've been flying a nice aerobatic electric plane for a few months and am craving the power of a gas model. These things fly like bats out of hell.

2. I've always wanted one, since I was a kid
but alas, never got around to getting one.

I do have a model rocket addiction, though.

3. My hobbies are just as expensive (if not more so) than your hobbies
:)

Especially photography . . . freakin' lenses are NOT cheap.

But, I would like to try flyin' one of those things sometime. . . prefereably something durable that won't implode the first 5 times I wreck it :)

7. I've only been flying for about a month and a half
and haven't had a bad crash yet. In my experience it's actually easier (and more fun) than it looks. The simulator was a huge help.

Good news! People are now doing serious aerial photography (and video) with their planes. Cameras are so small now that it's finally possible. That's certainly one aspect which I plan to explore very soon.

6. 4 channel, 5 servos
I'll find a use for my spare 3 channels. First extra I want is a smoke system, then maybe retractable landing gear.

8. i work at the place that prints
the rc flyer magazine..yup some really cool planes being manufactured and hand built. my brother in law used to build his own and he also sold them. he built excellent machines but gave the whole thing up when he figured out that he couldn`t fly them- he couldn`t get the hang of the remote/hand coordination and seeing what the plane was doing in the air!
