How Do You Make a "" Sign on DU?
Craigslist uses it instead of "eom" or "n/t". I tend to like it better for that purpose, but don't know the keystrokes or whether it can be done. On Craigslist, it seems to be formed by typing "< - >".

which is what I did above. Or was there a hidden method you used?

13. I Didn't Think of It That Way
but I like to know how to do these things.

Did you see ET Awful's post below? You hold down control and type 0167. Seems to work, at least on a Windows PC.

3. One way is to hold down the alt key and type in a 4 digit code
Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 02:05 PM by ET Awful
using the numeric keypad. Hold on and I will find the right 4 digit number for you.

Okay, just hold down your alt key and hit 0167 on your numeric keypad.

I always used to use a three digit code, but I can't remember what that one was.

7. It's basic ASCII
I did a search for "alt numeric keypad ascii" on Google and found it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the one with the three digit code I used to use. . .. WAIT, I found it!!!!

alt-277 (on the numeric keypad). That's the one :) Yay, it worked :).

12. I used to have a chart printed up that had them all
but that was years ago.

This time I just went through them one by one alt-200, alt-201, etc. until I found it.

There's all kinds of neat and funky characters you can do using those alt-numbers :)

18. If You Can Get to the Character Map Pop-Up
the shortcut is there in the lower right.

<--- RIGHT HERE!

However, I don't know how to get to this screen from Internet Explorer. Although the character map looks familiar, the source page seems to refer to menus from some other application.

22. That little program used to be part of Windows, I'm not sure if it still
is or not. It's called charmap.exe

There also used to be a way to pull that up from within Word Perfect back in the day.

and if you're on a Windows machine, all of the keystroke combinations can be found by looking at the special characters in the Windows character map (under Start/Accessories/System Tools in XP and Win2K).

21. You Can Also Use it To Create a Hard Space
which is often useful for aligning columns and so forth. I often use "pre" in square brackets, but Alt+32 can also do single characters.
