What was the character's name and who was the actor who played him? I thought he was Carl Anderson, the same actor who played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, but I can't find any info.

5. Wait. No. He wasn't his dad...
Mulder would tape an X on the window in tape or something and the guy would show up. Always acted really tense and pissed off that Mulder had called him. He was a black man with a beard and mustache.

Cigarette Smoking Man was a different character completely...Bill Campbell?...was that actor who played him?

6. The show started going downhill when they killed X.
He was such a great character. My favorite scene was when he got into the fistfight with Skinner in the elevator to Mulder's apartment.

"X" replaced the character "Deep Throat", played by Jerry Hardin, after he was killed in the Episode "The Erlenmeyer Flask" when he uttered the infamous line "Trust No One"

10. Ding ding ding!
Closest answer I've seen here.

The "X" was used to call his "deep throat," an informant that would give him info occasionally. The first season was some old guy (don't remember the name), and when he was killed, he was replaced by the angry black guy, who only talked to Mulder as a favor to the old guy and didn't particularly like him.

It's been a while, but I seem to remember another deep throat character as well...
