Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 08:18 PM by HEyHEY
Man, he quit smoking 20 years ago too. Let that be a lesson people! It's never too early to quit!

3. It is. He begins chemo next week.
He said he'd work as often as he felt up to it.

2. He was talking about that at the end of the ABC news broadcast tonight.
Said he'd quit 20 years ago, though if he started smoking in his teens, that still means he probably smoked for 30 years. He also said he was "bad" and smoked in the aftermath of 9/11.

For the first time ever tonight, he looked "old" to me. I'd never seen him look old before.

I hope he can beat it.

7. yeah, but...
smokers know what's up. drinkers, too, and dopers. we all know what's up.

I can only wish the best for Peter Jennings. As a news presenter, he always presumed that I was sophisticated and he addressed me, as such. I always enjoy his class act; he defers to my better nature.

Lung cancer is hard to beat. I hereby nominate him for a rare DU Flame-Pass. He'll be exempt-from-vilification as one of MSM's pinacle icons for the period of 36 months.

All in favor of bestowing a rare, DU Flame-Pass on Peter Jennings, vote here.

10. You're right. My uncle died of lung cancer in 1984 and
had never smoked a day in his life. I do believe he worked in an environment where there was second-hand smoke. Cancer strikes where and when it desires.

6. Wow, that is scary
does not surprise me, with the stress level, that he smoked after 9/11.

The good thing is that he can afford the best care possible.
