Why is Bush going to Rome this early?
Rome has basically said to world leaders arrive and leave on Friday if you can.

I can understand getting there Thursday night Rome time but a full day early.

It's not like he travels coach either - I'm sure it's not so hard to sleep on Air Force 1.

4. I feel sorry for the Romans
first they have to deal with millions of pilgrims who want to see a dead person, now * is giving them extra work (like they don't have enough to deal with). I would like to know if he wants as much security like when he was in Mainz, Germany (empty streets etc.)

8. Because it is hard work being president. He'll do anything to
get out of work. Just that simple. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the Pope, Italy, or anything international. Road trip with Pickles and Condasleeza, yoo hoo, fun, fun, fun. Just like a kid playing hooky from school. Right after the little journey to Rome he is heading straight back to Crawford. The Chimp is a totally, utterly, completely, lazy, "moranic" con artist who appears to be tiring of the game.

12. He wanted rebuilding work done on Buckingham Palace
When he came to the U.K.

Along with full diplomatic immunity for Secret Service Agents who shot anybody (b.t.w., the Metropolitan Police have been guarding senior figures in Britain for 150 years without a single death - they know what they're doing).

16. He was going to be sleeping there
And so a request came through that there be structural work to strengthen parts of it against possible attack.

Thankfully the Queen metaphorically raised two fingers in his direction.

17. I would wish the Queen would raise those 2 fingers
not just in her mind but in reality. Unfortunately she won't do it.

6. His alcoholism makes him have to carefully regiment his day...
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 07:51 AM by Crankie Avalon
...including waking up ang going to bed at EXACTLY the same time each day.

Maybe leaving so early is the closest he can come to having the schedule mimic his usual routine enough for his body clock not to notice and cause him to once again fall off the wagon?

7. Bush and Berlusconi want to trade tips on how to turn democracies into
corporate-fascist dictatorships. Also, I hear they've been planning some mutual masturbation sessions.

... You know, to pay his respects to the fascist. Then there's the free pizza and wine Sophia Loren promised him.

13. simple: making enemies among the pilgrims
The city and the Italian traffic is at the brink of collapse as it is. A nice no-flight zone over Rome and a another security zone is naturally a huge improvement :eyes:
