WOW!!! What a sweetheart!
This is from a relationship advice column in a weekly alternative newspaper in my area:

DATEGIRL

By Judy McGuire

You often neglect to discuss what is likely the biggest single factor in women's failure to attract a permanent mate: the presence of children. Single moms are obviously searching for a "daddy" to help pay the bills. If there is one thing that brings up red flags for the single male, it is a single woman with young kids. Who knows where she's been, and where she'll be after you've been committed? And what about those who don't get any child support or don't even know who the fathers are? Such women are a must-avoid for a single man with things to do and places to go.

—Mark

Hi Mark! Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to give us a piece of your (teeny-weeny) mind. Though my uterus has been and will always remain an unoccupied shell, I feel a kinship with the single moms you so blithely reject. And on behalf of both the breeders and the barren bitches of the world, I implore you to do us all a big gigantic favor and never ever date again. I mean it. We don't want your money, nor do we want your companionship. Stay home. You've already mentioned you have things to do, so do them. Play videogames. Eat cupcakes, shoot dope and drink beer; go where you need to go. I just hope it's not anywhere near my house."

My addtional comment: Not to mention no single mother should want a guy with an attitude like that to potentially be around her kids, anyway...

3. What a freak
He's implying single moms are damaged goods. What about those of us that were raised by single moms? My mom is a saint as far as i'm concerned. How dare someone presume things of this nature about single moms.

5. Well..actually ..Mark is right.
I don't know if Mark feels "What he Wrote" or if he's just bringing the facts of life to the letter.

I don't look or feel the same way but on the other hand, I'm not so naive to think that if given a choice between one woman with children and a woman without children, a larger percentage of Men will choose the latter. I don't think it's fair or smart 'cause a lot of wonderful women will be passed over...but..that's the truth in the matter...

21. It has never bothered me
but the numbers might. A woman with three kids is probably more than I can support, but it is almost impossible to find a woman close to my age, say, mid to late 30s, who does not already have a child. Also, none of the women seemed very eager to marry me, although their daughters were crazy about me. So I find Mark to be quite inaccurate.

6. When I was a single mom men chased me endlessly
That's because I owned my own house, made a lot of money, and didn't give a rat's ass about any guys.

Funny how much more attractive your kids become to these types of men when they realize you are a better 'catch' than they are.

This idiot has no clue what he is talking about. But then what do you expect from someone who's last date was the porn he downloads off of usenet?

8. Well "Mark", while you're out trying to find a woman that will put up
with your idiocy, I'll be talking to all those beautiful single mothers who love their children (some of which children were probably fathered by assholes like yourself).

As a single man with things to do and places to go, many of the things I like to do and places I like to go are the same things and places that are made even more enjoyable when accompanied by kids. Whether it's amusement parks, zoos, just a city park, or even a toy store, I love 'em all, and seeing a kids eyes light up when they get to have fun with things like that makes my day.

I for one have nothing against single moms or their kids. I love 'em both.

So, while I hesitate to provide you with some advice on where you can go and what things you can do once you get there, please depart immediately so you don't give the rest of us single men with things to do and places to go a bad name.

12. I'm sure he bitches about women in general.
He just can't understand why someone wouldn't want a catch like him. I mean come on, a forty year old virgin who still lives with his folks and works the swing shift at the 7-11? What a catch!

The problem with the Internet is, years past, people that never ventured out of their mom's basement, didn't have to annoy the entire world with their sick twisted views of it. Ah well, that's the down side of technology...

13. If a man is not ready to have children in his life, there is nothing
selfish with not dating a woman who has them. Truthfully, it would be a disservice to the woman and her children.

16. I really don't see that as being what's wrong here.
It's his small minded view of what all single mother's are like. For example, "searching for a "daddy" to help pay the bills." Trust me, not all single mom's are looking for such, perhaps a few, but not all. And the, "who knows where she's been", doesn't that apply to everyone you meet? Unless you've hand raised your ideal mate since birth, you just don't know for sure.

18. Good point, I guess I was just speaking from
my experience on this board when I say that I don't date women with children. I am not at the stage in my life where I want that, but a lot of people seem to think it is shallow. Like I made that decision because I "am not mature enough to have children" or "how dare you reject someone on the basis of that," etc.

14. I think you all are being a little hard on Mark.
(Maybe it's my scientific side) but Mark doesn't actually say that he feels that way, ...He might just be stating a fact. I mean, Look..63 percent of Males voted for Bush so it proves that a lot of Males don't think with their "smart" side. What he says (sadly) is actually quite true.

Don't shoot the Messenger..

20. Frankly, it's not his anti-child thing that bothers me.
He doesn't want to deal with kids, no problem.

It's his comment "Who knows where she's been, or where she'll be after you're committed?" that really bothers me.

If he's a virgin himself and he's wanting a virgin woman, fine. Nothing wrong with that. But if not, to concern himself with where a woman has "been" is ignorant and misogynistic.

THAT is the problem.
