11. I believe that's the definition.......
I went to High School at Magruder High, which is at the edge of Rockville, and was surrounded by corn fields at the time, actually, it still is......Anyway, the kids from down county, Bethesda, Silver Spring etc. always referred to us as Hicks and Hayseeds.

You know, when I went to College in the Midwest, I caught some flack for having a southern accent, which I never thought I had. Also, there is an active Klan Klaven in Frederick County, MD.......

So, Maryland can be pretty damn Hayseed, but I like it that way.

12. Hell, I love living in a rural area. I grew up on the beach, and I miss it
but I live in a thin slice of heaven. I just resent someone I don't know from Adam using a slur like that.

19. I believe you should have said "supercilious"
after all, everyone is ignorant about some things. I will assert confidently that nobody alive today has read every book which exists on this planet. Nor do they speak every language or know every local custom or know everything which has been discovered in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, economics, sociology, and anthropology.

20. it is like a "blink and you miss it" state
It is so small you can probably put the whole thing in Beadle County, SD and still have room for Delaware and Connecticut.

22. It is small. The ninth smallest state in the Union.
And it's charming. It also boasts two of the best Democratic senators we have.

23. also, my paternal great great great great grandfather
was born there. The fact that he was a Pennsylvania dutchman (actually Moravian) living in Maryland made him much easier to trace.
