Iowa bumper sticker poll results
I'm in Davenport, IA tonight getting ready to head home tomorrow from a driving tour through Iowa. I drove from Davenport to Cedar Rapids to Ames to Ft. Dodge to Waterloo, back through Cedar Rapids, then Iowa City, and now back to Davenport. I decided to take a poll of these highly political people by counting bumper stickers. Here are the results:

Howard Dean - 2
Wesley Clark - 1
Dennis Kucinich - 1
Bill Bradley (yes for President - and it's still legible) - 1
Tom Harkin (for President. And it hasn't fallen off yet) - 1
George Bush - 1

There you have it, the results of my unscientific poll.

2. bumper sticker polls can be indicative
I knew Clinton was going to win in '92 when we drove from Wyoming to Ohio/WV and back and I saw lots of Clinton/Gore, and one Bush/Quayle. Likewise, the number of yard signs/bumperstickers last year for (now Gov) Dave Freudenthal (D-WY) convinced me his victory was likely.

Interesting that Clark & Kucinich are the only ones besides Dean that you saw. I'd have expected a Gephardt or two. Hmmmm..........

3. yeay for Iowa! I'm from Waterloo, Ia. Good people there!
You were traveling thorugh my old stomping grounds, gosh it makes me homesick. Fort Dodge, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Iowa City.

My take us, Dean's their (0ur) kind of guy. It's almost lake he's from there: plain spoken, tells it like it is, cares deeply, doesn't like bulls**t and isn't afraid to work hard at what needs to be done.

4. I keep seeing Deans. .
I drive back and forth between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. . .I see a Dean in the parking garage I park in every few days. . . and sometimes out parked somewhere else. I see a Bush/Cheney on the drive back to Cedar Rapids once every few days as well. I haven't seen any Clarks, maybe a Kucinich, definitely no Gephardts, no Kerrys. . . A couple of the book stores are displaying Clark's book proudly. . . I should grab it.
