Who believes in ghosts?
Was sitting around a bar with a bunch of expensively-educated friends (I was the only one with a state university education), and was shocked that I was the only one at the table who did NOT believe in ghosts.

Stories of seeing ghosts on Gettysburg's battlefield (while riding bike home from a college waitressing job), seeing a friend who had committed suicide some years before in the family's barn, a coming across grandmother's sewing machine operating of its own accord.

I wasn't convinced, but was certainly entertained.

2. I am not totally certain either way...I'm open to anything. Here's some
more entertainment for you. I swear some mornings, real early after MrG goes to work, that his father (committed suicide in 2000) is sitting at the table with me. I don't "see" him...I "feel" him. If it is him, I think he's checking up on his grandkids. :hi:

5. You're right; they're wrong
Ghosts aren't real.

Our feelings for loved ones who have passed on are. I can't pick tomatoes without the smell of the plants reminding me of my father, but that doesn't mean Dad is there to make sure I'm doing it right.

6. If everyone who ever lived has left a ghost hanging around
we must be wading through the suckers everywhere, everyday! If ghosts are real, it is a very, very sad thing...

8. my daughter said she saw my F-i-L in the car next to her.
She was 2 and said "I'm talking to Poppy".

My wife said "who is poppy?" (knowing that her dad wanted to be called that, but never mentioned it to our daughter.)
She just said something incoherent.

Later, at home, we passed by a picture of him in our hall, and she said
"that's poppy, right there!" (in 2 yr old speak)

That was freakin spooky.

9. I don't know about the ghosts, but ...
I had numerous experiences as a teen, living in old farmhouse, with something that was unseen, unexplained, and of another realm. Don't know if was "ghosts", interdiminsional interference, or what, but there were frequent strange occurrences that baffle me to this day.

10. I wouldn't call it "belief," and I wouldn't call them "ghosts," but
I think it's arrogant to dismiss the likelihood of non-corporeal entities.

11. I used to be a complete skeptic as well.. but then...
I moved into a haunted townhouse after graduate school (I wondered why the rent was so cheap!). The upstairs portion of the townhouse was haunted, including the master bedroom and the upstairs full bath.

The lights in the bathroom would always flicker and buzz at odd hours, which I attributed to bad wiring and ignored for the most part. The toilet had an odd habit of flushing at mysterious times (when not in use) and I must have replaced the float and wax seal system in it about four or five times before I noticed the actual handle on the outside of the tank would depress when it flushed, so it wasn't a leak or faulty float valve causing it. You could literally watch it flush itself if you were patient. I figured, "Hey.. I have an incontinent ghost" and aside from a slightly higher water bill, I ignored it except for showing the phenomenon off to a few close friends and family members.

Then, one day about four months later, I was working on the computer in the spare upstairs bedroom (converted into a home office) and I heard the water tap kick on at the master bath sink. I walked in, and the cold water tap was on full blast. So, I turned off the spigot and chalked it up to possibly being a water pressure thing and went back to the spare bedroom to work. After five more minutes of typing on the computer, I heard the fawcett kick on again in the master, and this time when I checked it, it was the HOT WATER tap, not the cold as before. That wigged me out a little bit, as if the ghost was annoyed that I cut off it's water.

I decided to do a little research with the rental management company, and I found out that a woman had died in the master bedroom (suicide, gunshot) and was found by her five year old daughter.

At that point, I figured either the home was re-living the aftermath of the suicide or the ghost was trying to get clean somehow in the afterlife.

12. I am in a haunted building right now
people hear voices when they are alone, objects are moved inexplicably, several people have actually seen the ghost of an old woman.

This office is in a 140 year old building in historic Annapolis. It used to be a home.

13. It's like t UFOs,there is a small per cent of the witnesses
that cannot be discounted. So I will keep an open mind on both.

14. I'd say it may be even more like UFOs than that.
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 11:04 AM by Minstrel Boy
I think a good case can be made that they are related phenomena. The work of respected scientist/researcher (ie, not gullible hack) Jacques Vallee is suggestive that that may be true.

That means thinking outside the box of UFOs=extraterrestrial craft, which isn't a very popular thing to do. Vallee writes that the reasoning that UFOs either don't exist or are alien spacecraft is like saying the Moon either isn't real or is made of green cheese.

17. I believe in "another dimension"
There are entities of something that we can't always see. I have no doubt in my mind about this, and there is no one who could prove to me that I am wrong on this.

19. I do.
Many of the phenomena attributed to them are almost certainly fake; but I cannot deny all cases. It also seems to make sense if one makes the simple step beyond thinking that we're just big walking chemical reactions.

21. I too believe they exist....
although I have never seen a ghost. I have this HUGE fear of seeing a ghost and at the same time, I REALLY wanna see one. Anyhoo, that's my two cents.
