Saw Hedwig & the Angry Inch for the first time last night.
Surprising, isn't it? I'm not only a New Yorker where Hedwig was so big, but I'm way into defying gender roles. And some of my biggest influences in music are VU, Bowie, Iggy Pop, same as Hedwig's.

I never saw the live show, but we rented the movie last night and it was SO GREAT! The music was amazing, some of the most imaginative songs I've ever heard.

Have you seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch?

1. A friend popped my hedwig cherry 2 weeks ago...
I've been listening to the soundtrack nonstop since. Fucking amazing.

3. Are we the only Hedwig lovers?
And we're both Kucinich people... maybe we could make Hedwig our campaign movie? :pals:

5. That's interesting.
It'll be fun to see who else chimes in.

Or maybe I should do a poll.

4. I loved what I saw of it
But I never got to see the last 20 minutes of it.

I love the number where the house turns into an open-air stage.

6. Actually...
The last 20 minutes of the movie was too abstract for me.

Both are great, though.

8. Amazing music...
...some of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. (Having Bob Mould playing on the film soundtrack didn't hurt.)

The guy that wrote those tunes also wrote the incidental music for "Camp", another great film that Hedwig fans would probably enjoy.

9. We bought the DVD, and we only own Hedwig and Calle 54.,
so we are not big collectors, but the DVD has excellent extra stuff on it.

10. it's an awesome movie....
and the soundtrack is incredible. The DVD has a special "concert" feature that just plays the musical numbers - I play it often.

11. Great movie, great music
Like a lot of the best Bowie stuff from the '70s, I thought. I saw the live act here in Seattle at the Re-Bar and I loved it.

I'm amazed at how many guys I know who love music like this who won't see it "because it's too gay." And these are so-called progressives. Sad, really.

15. Loved the first half, didn't care for the second
Most movies just can't keep up the energy and enthusiasm they pour into the beginning, and they end up meandering around.

16. One of my favorites
I loved almost everything about the film; I wish I could've seen the show. Menses Fair!
The music is some of the best rock I've heard in ages. I listen to the soundtrack frequently.

17. It was better live, the movie was good but not great....
Something much better about seeing it on stage. Look out, it's starting to make the rounds in production at many of the regionals and colleges, now that the rights are available.

18. Straight guy here who loved it.
Excellent movie. Caught it in the theaters on the first run, and saw it on video a few months back. Great both times.
