1. I dont think so
the old other WS thread Ive seen is from so so and so who doesnt care about the world series but will post about it again and again. Anyways we have Wells on the mound, he is MONEY in the postseason. The Merlins have Penny, who was beaten up so badly in his last start that McKeon passed him over in the rotation. Penny is apt to shrink under the pressure...i think the Yanks will tag him for many runs tonight. LETS GO YANKEES!

WELLS IS AWESOME. I'm telling you, I can't wait for Clemens though. Btw, do you have the starting pitchers for game 2-7(if needed)? I saw them yesterday on TV but I forgot them. I know Pettite is pitching game 2, but that's all I know so far.

3. Not a lot of excitement tonight
If it were the RedSox/Cubs, or even Yankees/Cubs, the excitement would be immeasurable.

I think this should be good tonight. I am concerned about the Marlins pitching. If Penny gets banged around early, I'm not sure where they go. If it's long relief, you'd have to say Pavano or Willis.

I think Penny can get his act together and pitch moderately well. I see FL pulling what may be seen as an upset tonight.

NOT GONNA HAPPEN! lol NOT GONNA HAPPEN! You just want anyone to beat the Yankees, and I'm not saying that the Yankees are unbeatable, but they are tough as nails. I'm pretty sure my Yanks can take em.

Hey I dont like the Yankees simple as that. Grow up I dont like the Yankees, its in my blood as is being a democrat. Well Moose still hasnt got the Cy Young or 20 games that he expected to get with you guys that he almost got with us. Relax too I hate the Yankees and nothing is gonna change that, grow up lol.

22. Oh, come on
Admit it. You have a soft spot in your heart for Jeffrey Maier. It gives being an O's fan some depth and context. It gives a Red-Sox flavor to Orioles fandom which, let's face it, is otherwise pretty bland. Every team that doesn't win needs that "we were screwed" incident to point to and maier gave you yours. As for Moose, he may still get his Cy Young one of these years. He'd already have had one if he got ANY run support in 1999 from Baltimore or 2001 from NY. He may very well get his first title in the very near future.

And let's not forget that part of the reason that Moose is a Yankee (besides wanting to be part of an organization that actually puts an emphasis on winning the championship) is that Angelos wouldn't pay him anything near what he was worth and granted him free agency so that he could replace him with an aging Hentgen for less than half the price. How's that working out?

26. Yeah and you know damn well if Harry Frazee hadnt been an idiot
The Yankees wouldnt be as big as they were. Hey its not my fault my owner is an idiot. I hardly ever mention Meier as a matter of fact. Trust me one of these days you guys are gonna have one of those. Let me hate the yanks in peace. Hentgen not good but not a diaster by any means, I think Lopez could be good in the future. Seriously I hardly ever mention the Meier incident I do now occasionally yes because of the guy at the Cubs game.

17. They haven't released them yet
Game 2 is Redman vs. Pettitte
Game 3: Beckett vs. Mussina
Game 4: Pavano vs. Clemens thursday

Game 5 will likely be Penny/Willis for the Marlins. If they're down, they could bring back Beckett in Game 6, or just stick with Redman and then Beckett in 7.

The Yanks would go with either Wells in Game 5, or Pettitte on three days rest. I suspect Torre keeps the rotation the same.

14. AAAAARRRGGHH!!! I can't watch the game
My GF got to the TV first and is watching a movie (Unfaithful). I could go to the lounge that we have in the building, I suppose, but I think I'll just follow along on DU/ESPN for a while.

As for the stolen bases, I can't wait until Petitte pitches. Between their speed and his pickoff move, that should be quite a battle.

16. It would have been Mussina's turn
He pitched Monday, so it would have given him four days rest. But with Mussina pitching 3 innings Thursday, they have to push him back.

25. Are they showing the Clintons at the game?
otherwise I don't get too interested before game 4 of any World Series. If I miss something, there's always Sports Center.

Two minutes before Aaron Boone came up the other night, I said to the wife "Of course this game is going to end with a home run."

Damned if it didn't.

-Phillies fan.

32. think Boone beats out Bobby Thomson 1951?
Boone and Thomson both won the pennant for their team.

I've seen stuff in the NY papers about Boone reaching "immortality."
That may be.

He made it look easy. I used to follow his dad Bob Boone when he was a Phillie in the 1970s era. (They look alike).

Glad the home run wasn't hit by a high priced crybaby type, but a struggling "I may not be kept around next year" type. Go Boone.

The Yankees have a good shot to rally late if they can get to our middle relief.
