the hell are the words? I've seen/heard it a hundred times and can't make any of it out! (Where the kid makes one out of wood and wins the soap box derby thingy)......:grr:

1. I don't know the song, but the commercial
reminds me of repukes... the kid sees an opening in the rules "first one down" it doesn't say you need to follow the track. all the other kids race down the track; the hummer boy cuts through and scoots by narrowly ahead of the kids who are racing on the track. who does that remind you of bunny pants? ahrnold?

9. Before Tommy, I think....
They were soooo good in the early days....."My Generation", "I Can See for Miles"...Keith Moon was simply an awesome drummer.

10. Yes it was Early Who--way pre Tommy
we used to have discussions about the symbolism of the words.....

Happy Jack wasn't old, but he was a man
He lived in the sand at the Isle of Man
The kids would all sing, he would take the wrong key
So they rode on his head on their furry donkey

The kids couldn't hurt Jack
They tried and tried and tried
They dropped things on his back
And lied and lied and lied and lied and lied

But they couldn't stop Jack, or the waters lapping
And they couldn't prevent Jack from feeling happy

But they couldn't stop Jack, or the waters lapping
And they couldn't prevent Jack from feeling happy

The kids couldn't hurt Jack
They tried and tried and tried
They dropped things on his back
And lied and lied and lied and lied and lied

But they couldn't stop Jack, or the waters lapping
And they couldn't prevent Jack from feeling happy

12. How Dumb Can They Be...
if the rest of us pay for their fantasies for them? Bush's economic stimulus package included a provision that allows small businesses to write off up to $100,000 on the purchase price of vehicles weighing over 6,000 lbs. This includes all the largest SUVs...especially the Hummer. This means you and me -- folks -- are subsidizing these purchases.

Meanwhile, buy a new hybrid-electric Prius or Civic and you get to deduct a measily $2,000 and that goes down next year.

13. Happy Jack
wasn't tall but he wasn't fat

I don't think it was from TOMMY. It was out back in 1967 which was before the rock opera thing.

"And they couldn't stop Jack just from being happy" was the last line, I think.

I loved it.

15. I love the whole idea of the commercial..good ol American ingenuity
winning the day and outsmarting the others....and a cool song from 60s-pop-liberal era to boot. Great idea.
