3. As an ex-nun
I love the Gregorian chant. I really didn't hear the Gregorian chant during the death of our Pope, but probably the chant has changed.

11. Same chant as ever
Very few churches still use chants, but where they do it the same 1500 year-old stuff (except where new texts are being used, of course).

Good deal.

7. That's ok. A lot of people don't even know what it is --
-- or what it sounds like.

I say good for you.

Let that sound wash over you from centuries ago.

8. Years ago
I went to bed with the Gregorian chant. We had Chaplin (for those unfamilliar), Chaplin was the evening prayers for us. After many many years, I can still hear it. Somethings just don't leave us. It was so beautiful.

9. You know what?
You need to expand your thinking. I don't find your post amusing, but that is just me.

13. Huh?

It was just an indictment of Medieval theology sung in the form of a Gregorian chant. In a film they screen for ninth graders. No harm done.

It's not MY thinking, if that's what you meant. I'm still confused by your reply.

10. The Gregorian chants are soothing and uplifting for me.
Actually when I listen to the Gregoran chant, I am so comforted and at peace. I do miss those days, but they are in our Mass if we listen.

12. I do that occasionally--a CD bought from Notre Dame
I remember having a hard time leaving this magnificant cathedral--went back three times on a trip to Paris, even though I'm about as far from a regular church-goer as you get and definitely not particularly religious.

Europe knew what they were doing with these incredible cathedrals. The drama DOES draw you in. And, Gregorian chants.... mesmorizing.
