Riddle me this: If they had to complete the Great Pyramid during Khufu's
23-year reign, how did they know he was going to reign 23 years? This is something that is repeated on every documentary about the pyramids, and every time I just go "Huh?" because it flies in the face of common sense. You can just see the vizier begging, "Hold on Khufu! You can't die yet! They're still dragging in the capstone." Or did they say, "Welp; pyramid's done. Let's go kill pharaoh now."

Hmmmmmmmm?

1. They saw how much trouble they went through for the
ungrateful sob and decided to kill him for putting them through that. :P

2. dMaybe the writing was on the wall?
It's possible that the people surrounding that particular pharoah had an idea that he was on his way out for whatever reason...maybe plotting...etc....do we really know what the true history was anyway?? I would love to have some real documentation...I have read a lot of 'histories" as regards this, but it's really difficult to tell...I wouldl love it if you would either PM me with some data or thoughts anyway...

3. I think it's historiography's version of an urban legend
Maybe it's just one documentary and I just see it over and over again. It was on yesterday (Monday, that is) but I'm having an impossible time finding what channel or what the title was. I thought it was on Discovery Times, but it wasn't on the schedule.

Maybe the pharaohship was actually a sentence...

4. Two words...
Tanna leaves...

...Having watched the Mummy movies many a time over the years I can now safely consider myself an expert in Egyptology and am available to testify for hire in court, under oath, about this...

5. I believe...
I heard somewhere that if a Pharaoh died before his pyramid was completed, they would either bury him somewhere temporarily. Not sure, though.

I'll ask my friend who has a degree in History with a focus on ancient Egypt.

7. If you know the secret
shouldn't you have been buried in the pyramid with him?
