About tonight's Red Sox/Yankee game
I saw it on TV. Isn't this the most biased article? It is obvious this guy is a Yankee fan.

1. I very much hate the Yankees
But what that fan did was despicable. Sheffield would have been well within his rights to clock that guy. Fans can boo the players they hate, or swear at them, but a physical assault for no other reason than to disrupt the play of the game is grounds for having your ass kicked. That fan should be banned from Fenway Park for life.

2. I was at a sports bar
And I saw the replay several times (it was a crowded bar and the Miami Heat were playing so it was shown on a small TV), but I did not see anything intentional and obvious.

I hear the fan punched Sheffield, but I just did not see it, despite the many replays they did after the incident.

4. I saw it, too. You're right.
Disclaimer: I am a sox fan, born & raised.

However...I did see the game. The fan clearly meant no malice; he was reaching toward the ball, and was pulling away as Sheffield came in. It looks as though he brushed against Sheffield, but it may have been more than it appeared.

I'm very glad that Sheffield only shoved the anonymous fan once. If he'd gone back into the stands after he threw the ball back into play, it'd have been a shitstorm. There were some very scared people there, and Fenway is a VERY small park. For Sheffield to claim that the fan "hit" him, though, and then that he (Sheffield) kept his cool, seems a little disingenuous.

The fan was ejected. Sheffield should've been. Meh.

5. PS
The fan did not punch Sheffield, at least not on the live feed and then on the dozen or so replays I saw.
