Anybody here belong to SCA?

Am thinking about joining up. Either archery or heavy fighting. Both, if my screwed up knee and ankle can take it.

5. i'd be cool if it was realistic

but around here the defination of the 'A' in SCA seemed to relate to using everyday 20th centry objects as pretend 16th centry weapons.

6. Prepare to be the most social person in your group of 'medieval' buddies.

Many of those people can't shower, much less socialize in this century's context.

Much better to pick up a truly cool hobby, like stamp collecting or cow-tipping.

I believe the experience depends on the group you join; some may be great, others not so great. It appears you can attend functions as a guest, to see what your local group has to offer.
