How can I find out whether a slogan has already been trademarked?
A business I work for has used a particular slogan for awhile. I've suggested they get it trademarked. How do I go about finding if it's already been taken by someone else?

1. Do a patent search
The US Patent Office has a ton of on-line informaiton. Check their website out.

2. Go and try in trademark it
US Patent & Trademark office will do a search before granting it. They will notify you if not possible or how to change it. Is it a LOCAL business or do they do business nationally/internationally?

3. Plaster it all over in posters and TV ads and stuff, and if you get sued,
then it's been trademarked.
