NEW YORK -- Your next set of wheels could come souped up with satellite TV.

In the first deal of its kind, a maker of satellite TV receivers says it will offer its systems as an option in Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicles.

A spokesman for KVH Industries said the recommended retail price of the satellite option is about $2,700, including an extended warranty.

Until now, a car owner who wanted satellite TV had to buy the equipment from an electronics store, and then have it installed. Customers who get an Escalade with the system will still need to buy a subscription from DirecTV to receive its programming.

Cadillac sold just over 50,000 Cadillac Escalade SUVs in 2004, said Kelly Wysocki, a Cadillac spokeswoman.

According to J.D. Power & Associates, a marketing information company, more than one-third of SUVs and minivans sold in the United States last year came equipped with video screens.
