Singer Toby Keith Surprised To Be Tracked Down By FBI

LOS ANGELES -- Even when you know you're squeaky-clean, it's still a bit unnerving to be tracked down by FBI agents.

A contingent of FBI agents from the Nashville and Memphis offices tracked down Toby Keith last week, backstage at the 2005 CMT Music Awards.

The good news? The purpose of the manhunt was to present Keith with a commendation, honoring the singer for his patriotism and service to the armed forces through his USO trips to Iraq and other overseas outposts.

And he'll do it again next month. His appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards will be via satellite, beamed in from the Middle East.

I had no idea the FBI tracked people down to thank them for their patriotism. Interesting.

Of course, NEXT YEAR or so, it'll be much harder, finding all those county fairs, American Legions and birthday parties he'll rightfully be playing.

Man I envy them, because everyone knows that the best way to kick off dust storm season is watching some sweaty jackass twanging away on a guitar in 115 degree heat.

and how hard was it to "track him down" at the CMAs? wasn't he listed as someone appearing? sounds like a crack squad of agents - - glad to know such a brain trust is on our side
