I'm gonna do it
:wow:

There's a 5K near my hometown. I'm gonna sign up for it.

My goal is to run as far as I can, to walk the rest, cross the finish line, get a free T-shirt and to make some friends.

Think I'm  ? I do too.

3. Awesome
:toast:

I'm going to be trying to do one this summer. I used to run all the time back in my high school days. I'm trying to get back in the grind.

Are you training for it? The best thing to do is to just go out and run. This sounds like sarcastic advice, but it's true. Estimate how long you think it will take you to run the 5k then go out and try to run or jog that long. There's nothing wrong with walking part of it - I have done it often - but it feels a thousand times better to have ran the whole way. Jogging counts.

Good luck, I think you will have a great time!

7. I've been jogging for 3 weeks now
First time in my life

I'm now at the point I can do 2 miles, with a short breather and a sip of water in between miles. I'm slow as molasses running uphill in January, but I don't care.

I'd like to find someway to have a water supply with me while I jog--something that won't be too cumbersome. Maybe I'll take a trip to the sporting goods store before the race and see what they have.

10. Many races
have water stations along the way. I would check to see if they will, that way you won't have to worry about it.

6. ~3.2 miles
a good long run even for someone who just started running.

I personally don't like timed races-that isn't why I run but good luck. Races are a fun experience.
