My God, the show "Friends" was a piece of shit
I watched it, accidentally, every now and again over the years it was on, and hated it and wished I could have the writers and the network executives executed.

But now, as an experiment, I thought, "I really should watch a bunch and then make a decision; that's the only legitimate scientific methodology".

So, I've been watching it every night on reruns over the last month or so.

And I have to say, although every now and again I do laugh out loud at it, the truth is, this was a really, really, really shitty, ignorant, dumb-downed, totally fuckoff TV show that never should have made it past the pilot, and was a success only because of its pure hip and trendy shittiness.

4. Please, if it's a gift to me, just recycle it
:puke:

And David Schwimmer is such a stupid fucking git.

I love the woman who plays Pheobe - she actually can act and has charisma and knows what she's doing. And the guy who plays Chandler has a good ability, too.

Tonight's rerun has Tom Selleck - how appropriate that a shitass piece of fuckall crap should guest star on a series that's filled with shitass pieces of fuckall crap and written by shitass pieces of fuckall crap.

14. ..."a stupid fucking git" who GOT THE GIRL in the final episode...
...after fucking up AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN, and basically throwing her away, only to walk into the warm, beautiful "all's well that ends well" sunlight of the phenomenon known as The Happy Ending.

THIS girl.

21. NO! His CHARACTER got the stupid whore
The ACTOR - David Schwimmer - is a stupid git. His character was also kinda stupid (intellectually), but he was written to be kinda stupid; and his character was also artistically kinda stupid.

But there's a difference between the actor being stupid, and the character being stupid. David Schwimmer is an ass, an idiot, and a shitall fucking moran when it comes to "acting" and "art".

25. Nah, I think it started with the "people with no (or low-paying jobs)...

...living in GAZILLION DOLLAR A MONTH, airline hangar sized New York apartments."

That happened, let's see...in EPISODE ONE?

26. Yeah, people who work in a coffee shop can afford a 3000 sq. ft. loft

in the Village.

That's where I lost it, too.

When I lived in NYC, I had good paying jobs (almost $70K a year) as a secretary at the executive level of major firms, and I still had to live in Harlem in a rent stabalized place just to get 900 sq. ft. that I could afford.

>>>And David Schwimmer is such a stupid fucking git.<<<

Thankfully someone else has said it. Here I thought I was the only one who hated the show and absolutely DESPISED David Schwimmer's character.

5. That's too bad - I really loved the show.
It certainly had its ups and downs, but overall I really liked it. That show got me through some tough times - it's true escapism and when my world was falling apart, watching Friends was the only time I had peace.

6. I agree totally.
I never saw the attraction of the show. But then Seinfeld never did anything for me either.

27. "Seinfeld"
I watched some episodes recently. I had been a big fan when it was on network.

Frankly, I was shocked at how self-indulgent and mean-spirited it was. I was really appalled. What kind of person was I to find that kind of pettiness and meanness funny?

On the other hand, I'm still dazzled by the M*A*S*H* reruns, although it throws me when I see that really young Alan Alda and then I see him on West Wing.

9. I think it was NBC's attempt at synthesizing the humor of "Seinfeld"
with a prettier cast. It turned, eventually, into a comic soap opera.

Pity, because some members of the cast are actually very talented.

Lisa Kudrow...and....

...

....

????

I tried to find the good acting. It was a fruitless search.

12. The few minutes I saw...probably not the good part to catch.
She irks me beyond belief--and that doesn't prevent me from admitting her talent, if I saw it...I used to despise Tom Cruise...

but I only saw a few minutes of Office Space, and she was doing her same thing she always does.

I've been told to see that and The Good Girl. Hmm.

15. I did like her in The Good Girl.
Uneducated girl who, for once in her life, makes her own decisions and has to deal w/ the consequences. She did a decent job in it.

24. She did keep the right tone.
Nothing over the top. You could understand exactly where she was coming from. Every woman has had temptations like she had. The difference is that most of us do not act upon them.
It was a bit like "The road less traveled".

28. He cried about not getting the same money as "Friends"...
...in Entertainment Weekly. The issue came out right before "Joey" aired, and the article also detailed his "stable of Porsches," etc. etc. etc.

He claimed that he didn't know he was going to get $1.5 million per episode (or whatever the hell they were all getting in the last season) until he committed to do the show. Then he started calculating and saying that if the show were on the air for ten years like "Friends," he could still see a buttload of money once it went into syndication.

My guess is that "Joey" won't be on for ten years, unless Miami Steve Van Zandt does a guest appearance and whacks Drea DeMatteo...AGAIN.

She's the main reason I've never watched the show. She's like a low-rent Gina Gershon with NONE of the redeeming qualities (assuming one believes Gina Gershon HAS redeeming qualities)...
