Are people really that fucking dumb?

Oh, wait. That's a stupid question. Of course I know the answer - yes, people really are that dumb. And not only are they really that dumb, they CELEBRATE that level of dumbness as some kind of Christian moral value.

Sigh.

I was forced to think about this when watching a commercial about assholes playing sports who then feel the need to drink over-sugared totally-thirst-unquenching Sierra Mist.

10. Uh, I do, sometimes.
Does that put me on your shitlist?

Not that it matters if it does, and I'll still enjoy the next icy Coke, whenever it may be, because it doesn't happen all that often. But I enjoy it when it does happen, disapproval or not.

24. Yeah, maybe a little crabby!
But it is kinda to the point in America where drinking water to quench thirst, or for any reason, is considered "tree hugging" and "unamerican" which then becomes instantly "unchristian" or ipso facto "anti Christian".

31. yes, very sick!
Anyone who wants to live "off the grid", for whatever reason, is considered an anarchist and not part of society. Even though it's okay for the SuperChristians to live "off the grid" in terms of homeschooling, and teaching creation science, and yada yada yada.

I don't get it.

But then, that's the nature of hypocritical shitknockers - nothing makes sense from a logical perspective.

18. I limit the soda---
because I find that my sports performance is better when I don't drink it.

However, I do enjoy drinking the occasional soda.

22. I'm drinking some...
...Diet Lime Coke right now, and it's more like a late night sweet treat in lieu of dessert, which in my case would be popping some blobs of cookie dough in the toaster oven. When I'm actually thirsty, I go with a 50/50 mix of a sports drink and water (straight up is still too sweet for me, so I hear where you're coming from), but I won't turn down the "golden sodas" if I'm in relaxation mode...

25. And there's nothing wrong with a soda for leisure's sake
no more so than a gin and tonic or martini or cup of tea or coffee.

But to think that soda is actually something to use to quench one's thirst - that's just wrong.

Water always makes me more thirsty. I think my body is at least 60% sugar though.

33. Well, that's not really true
Soda is not terribly dehydrating. And frankly even the levels of caffeine in soda aren't enough to counteract all the water in it.

Is it as hydrating as gatorade or water? No. Is it isotonic with your blood? No.

But sugar is not something that dehydrates you. Too much salt would do it, but not really sugar.

I'm not saying it's *good* for you, but there's nothing really wrong with it as a thirst quencher. As for sports, well, it might actually be better than water in that it would provide some quickly accessible carbs.

35. I don't get drinking soda when your thirsty
They don't quinch a thirst, water does. I work at a dealership, and I do the ordering for sodas, water and snacks that we have for customers. At least there, during the summer, I have to order more water, but during the winter it's more soda.

I pretty much drink only water (unless it's a beer, then I have a water on the side.)

36. Given the choice of an ice cold Coke or over-chlorinated tap water....
...I'll have to go with the Coke. But I don't think I've ever had to pray over that particular decision. Unless it's to ask God for the wisdom to remind me to pack a few bottles of drinkable water with me when I'm driving through states where there may not always be a grocery store within walking distance of the motel.
