The continuing Saga of my life with pets,
Well, I had to put my Golden Retriever, Pal, to sleep today. Advanced Lymphoma, he was 10.

All the things I love in the world are dying on me. The truth be told, he hasn't been the same since April died. He was her dog, much more than mine.

As usual, my 8 year old daughter brought the house down with her, "Now Pal is playing ball with mommy in heaven" comment.

I think I'll go cry for a while.

2. I am so sorry to hear that.....
I can relate because I just lost my 11 yr old yellow lab in january.

You've got to grieve for a bit, but then you must pick yourself up and get back to life for you and your daughter.

My thoughts are with you.

5. Don't get me wrong, I'm not falling apart over it,
It was more my daughter's perspective on where he is now that moves me to tears. What a beautiful way to look at death.

4. I am so sorry.
I lost my dog last week. I just can't stop thinking about her.

You lost your wife, too? How heartbreaking. When I was widowed at 27, I thought my life was over. I remarried, and had a nice family.

Hugs to you and your dear daughter.

I hope you can find some comfort, and a way to look forward, while keeping the good memories of your departed ones.

7. My condolences on your wife's passing.
Your dog too, which seems to be the icing on the cake. Take care of yourself and love your daughter, this too shall pass.

8. Everything I "love" has gone and died on me too...
It really sucks, but I guess you already know that. The thing is that others, who have had similar pain, also know that words and "advice" are cheap and know its really hard to say anything meaningful other than "we are sorry too".

This too will pass. Grieve your friends, mourn their loss, but never give up hope that things will be better tomorrow than they are today. And look to your spiritual self.
I use this prayer daily before my meditation....

Grant me the Serenity to Accept the things I can not Change
The Courage to Change the Things I Can
And the Wisdom to Know the Difference.

11. I remember feeling that way, throckmorton
Although they never heal, those holes in your heart will get smaller with time. All my best to you and your family. Your daughter sounds quite wise for her age.
