1. Depends on the breed
For some it's as few as 8 years, for others they can live to be over 20.

3. It is directly related to its ability to be house-trained.

12. House trained
My one dog was impossible to house train, he is now but he had a problem. My female did not have a problem, caught on as quick as a cat. The difficult dog is 17 and the easy one is 16 now.

4. All breeds are different

I have two Keeshonds and they go anywhere from 8 to 10 years on average. Generally smaller dogs live longer that larger ones.

5. Depends on the breed.
Dobermans, for example, turn 7 and die. Giant breeds 7-8 years, mid size, 12-15 years, small breeds 14-18 years. Give or take, of course, and subject to individual variation.

11. That sounds about right
As a general rule, 14 or 15, if they are taken care of and not allowed to run loose and get into fights. Same with cats, actually. Although I had a cat that lived to 21 and my uncle had a dog that just missed 20. He slept the last four, though.

6. it depends.

small dogs tend to live longer than large dogs, and I also think it depends on breeds as well. I know someone with a shit-su (sp?)that lived to be 18 years old. My chocolate lab is 11 years old, and she'll probably make it to 13.

10. I have two cockers
16 and 17 years old. They both are quite spry, but for only a short time. They play ball for about five minutes, think one is going blind, he at one time would catch a ball without a problem, now misses it frequently. The other can run around the house and the yard, take her for a walk, I'm carrying her home after a 1/2 a block because she just stops. If I wanted to really walk fast or run, this was one dog I would take with me, she didn't walk, she ran. Not anymore. They are still my babies though.

9. My girl is a yeller Lab. She's deteriorated in the last year
and she is 13.

So, we're trying to get weight off of her but I don't think she'll be around much longer. She had a stroke a few weeks ago and seemed to fully recover. But, that mean's she's vulnerable.

13. The bigger they are, the shorter the life span, and the smaller they are
the longer...

I know great danes are lucky to live past age 6.

My maltese was 19 when she died...
