Nostalgia Time....anyone remember the FOSTER FREEZE ice cream cone???
I remember hot summers and eating those creamy vanilla ice cream cones. At my age 52 I'm not to into ice cream, but boy those were good. Cooled you off too in the summer......any memories from you all....???

3. Sorry, Foster Freeze never made it to the boondocks
I do remember going to the local dairy bar for cones on hot summer nights. If my friends and I were hungry we would have a
"Nightmare" - cheeseburger, ham, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayo on a huge sesame bun. Mmmmmmmm. I forgot the Lemon Blennd.

I'll have to try a Google, do you remember A&W Burgers, mama, papa, baby? That was my first job when I was 16. Nostalga is a fun thing......

8. Uhm, were those the soft ice cream out of the
machine cones that they dipped in chocolate, or am I thinking of something else.

I remember Foster's Freeze more for their burgers: thick with onions and a kind of mayonnaise dressing sauce. Quite juicy.

13. Yep. And we still have one in the Napa Valley
We also have an A&W in St. Helena... except it's now teamed up with Kentucky Fried Colonel. Root beer's still the best, though.

19. :) Good idea!
Just kidding, about it all, of course (well not about it being the hardest, most stressful job ever!)!!

It was nasty, though, especially durring the summer, with tons and tons of tourists in line all wanting their chocolate dipped cone and not understanding that the machine couldn't keep up, and going home after working for 6 hours at $3.65/hour, absolutely covered in every kind of sugar and fat imaginable.

Bleh!!! Fast food is easily the worst job there is - well at least that most young people have to do in their lives.

No residual hatred, though. :)

david

just eternal bitterness...

20. I don't know yet how to look up specific
peoples post yet. But you are in one of them. It's in the general discussion forum. It's called "diary of a political NEWBIE" cHECK IT OUT. You are in it. By the way, I worked at both Mcdonalds and A & W root beer. I was glad to make my own money. I'm 52 and doing quite well financially. You will too.

21. Heya Laura
I really am sorry if my earlier comment offended you in any way. We (at least I) tend to be kinda smart-asses in the Lounge. It's always meant in good fun. I think when you get to know people a bit better you'll figure out that 99.9% of the time we're just joking around.

If I say "I f*cking hate you!!!", it really means nothing more than "Hey! Good to meet you." I know that doesn't make much sense, perhaps, but it's true.

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. I still stop by Foster's ocassionally to torture the poor people working behind the counter. At least now the minimum wage is over $6!

Best to you!

david

23. We had Foster's Freeze!
The only time I got one is when we had to go pick my mom up from the Swizzle Stick because she was loaded... there was one in the same parking lot. But I do enjoy the memory of the ice cream.

Thanks for the memory!
