Need DUers' opinions.
I want a hair cut and I want to have my hair colored.

Right now my straight, shiny, brown hair is pretty long--down past my shoulders, but not mid back yet. If I let it grow--as quick as it grows, it would be down to the middle of my back by mid-summer.

Before I had long hair, I wore the cut in the image below. It's kind of a 1920s inverted bob. I actually want my hair colored close to the tint of the girl's hair in the photo.

I live a very active lifestyle, very masculine lifestyle, to be frank, since I am a single parent who has to be the man in the home, for the kid's sake. Fishing trips, bike riding, gardening, etc. But I also have demands which require a professional appearance.

What I do now is wear my hair in a twist in the back for when I'm doing active stuff, and I wear it down long when professionalism calls.

But by going back to that hairstyle, well, it would be good for all facets of me. What's holding me back is whether or not its a "common" hairstyle.

Anyway, Tell me what you guys think. Do you like the style?

Do you like the cooler or can you recommend another color? I want a change, but I don't want to go blonde. I want to go red.

Any replies are appreciatedl :toast:

1. I like the cut. Like the color...but the used to be a hairstylist in me
would recommend a few on tone highlights to make it pop. Not a whole head, just a few well placed face framers. Go for it. :bounce:

8. Same thing I'm thinking.
A few highlights at the crown which will fade into no higlights in the back.

9. Yes. When I had it before...
I did feel so stylish, and I received many compliments. Right now, my hair is up in a twist 90% of the time instead of down and flowing. I'm pretty much sold on the haircut.

The color part is perplexing me, though.

14. I'm clueless on color.
My brief fling with highlights had me looking like a cheetah. :D

This isn't correct.

6. What isn't correct? That I am asking DUers online for t heir opinion...
Edited on Thu Apr-21-05 11:56 PM by Maddy McCall
instead of a man incarerated in the Texas penal system for abusing me and wracking up seven DUIs?

Edited to add: I only have on "father" of my one child. He is no longer in either of our lives. (Thanks, Texas DOJ)

But what does he have to do with this decision anyway?

18. What I'm trying to say is . . .
. . . it is not correct for your hair style or color to be an issue.

22. I've never allowed a boyfriend, fiancee, or ex-husband tell me how to...
style my hair, especially not one who's incarderated for aggrivated assault and repeat DUI.

We have lived our lives completely separately for 12 years. Don't see how he has a dog in this fight at all.

But even if we were happily married, I'd get my hair done as I like, trusting the opinions of my friends who have to make similar decisions.

25. Then we agree
Your hair style and color should be whatever you want them to be.

I think I got lost somewhere in this thread.

B-)

Seems professional to me. Does it fit your face though? Not every hair style looks good on every person.

I like the look, but if you work in a really conservative place it might not go over well. Otherwise, yes, absolutely!

11. Thats
More or less how I've worn my hair for a LONG time, and I used to have it red. I just recently added bangs, and went from 7 years of red to a dark brown with some blonde.

So I'm biased.

But I like it

Yeah, I have worn mine that way for a long time--
brown with blonde highlights up until recently, when I did a pixie spikey cut, and then just grew it out long.

I'm so sick of carrying around this ponytail. I want my bob back. And I want it to be red.

Does one also color one's um "precious moments" when one colors one's head hair?

17. Sure thing
Yeah I know, my hair is notorious for growing back fast. I decided when I was about 13-14 to stop wearing it short, I never got it buzzed but I never wore it like I do now.

19. I think that's a very nice cut
And I also agree with the other posters that a little highlight in the front would do well. Just make sure that they're very natural and not chunky.

Do you already have a good stylist?

27. The style is great...
sophisticated and triple duty as mom, professional, or hotsexy depending on the situation. Probably easier to maintain, too, no endless fooling around with it.

But, red????

I dunno. I see so many bad red dye and henna jobs around here that the thought really turns me off. Nothing really wrong with red itself, it just seems that hardly anyone knows how to do it. Around here, anyway. Besides the ones I see on the street, I am thinking of two women I know who have a style close to that, and have bad red color. No one wants to tell them...

If you're really gonna go red, find someone who can do it right.

(That great sophisticated style and the first thing people think of is Chuckles the Clown...)

You said you live an active lifestyle. Will you wear a headband when you exercise? It's going to bug you if you don't.

If so goferit.

Looks nice to me. If you want to do it, it looks easy to maintain and it looks pretty, especially the color.
