And yes, the little one is a Rat Terrier. What am I supposed to do? Strap em down to the seat with duct tape?

I highly recommend restraint for many reasons.

I think your dogs are so damn cute.

3. My dog has a doggie seat belt

She hates it at first, but I would never forgive myself if she died as a 'doggie missile'

I think I saw the same woman you are talking about weaving back and forth down my street with her dog smushing itself to her front, getting all comfy, TOTALLY IMPAIRING HER ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY.:grr: :nuke: :grr:

But dogs jumping around the front seat of a moving vehicle are DANGEROUS!

12. many years ago, in 1985
I was coming back from a Bryan Adams concert with my brother and future sister-in-law. It was about two in the morning (we had to drive 300 miles to see this concert) and I took over the driving because they both had to work the next day. When I got behind the wheel, their dog sat on my lap. This was a bigger dog, about 25 pounds or so. I was like "WTF? Get off, because you are not sitting there while I drive." My brother said: "she does it all the time when I am driving."
Years later, my beagle, who was born in November of 1998, likes to sit on my lap when I drive, and now I am comfortable with it too. It can be dangerous, in theory, but I have never been close to a situation where it came close to causing a collision. Probably it helps that I do not face heavy traffic most of the time.
