Things I learned From Televison
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 08:01 PM by Liberalynn
Some experts say that TV is not educational. I disagree. Here are just some of the things I learned from TV.

A just for fun exercise:

1. The Miranda Warning - from Starsky and Hutch

2. That soldiers only have to give their name rank and serial number if captured by the enemy, because of the Geneva Convention from Hogan's Heroes.

3. That turkeys don't fly! from WKRP In Cincinati

4. If someone gives you their phone number and it has a 555 area code they are blowing you off.

5. To hide you diary in a really secure locations so your pesky siblings don't find it or try to sell it. The Partridge Family.

6. Never ask more than one date to the same dance - again Partridge Family or virtually any other show that featured teenage boys and girls.

7. What a million different initials stood for like CSI, ADA, ....

8. Be sure to keep track of where you parked in a parking garage. Seinfeld.

9. That there was such a thing as an executive district attorney, Law and Order.

10. What it means when Doctors intubate someone. ER

What have you learned for TV?

1. The only thing I watch on tv is sports
So the only thing I have learned is how sports are played. Strategy and such. I don't know if that's worth much.

12. WOW!
That's a lot of years invested into those shows! Remember when so many people use to watch soaps. Viewership has really declined!

at different times through the years, but I kind of gave up on all of them.

The hardest to let go of GH because I was addicted for so long, but I kind of got sick of it the last couple of years because of the seemingly unwritten rule that virtually every woman had to get pregnant by Sonny and the way they wrote Laura Spencer off. I finally just turned it off out of frustration.

17. I use to watch GH and OLTL
back in the day cause my sis and mom use to watch them.
I like the GH and OLTL of Old. They had some really good storylines. Now, Y&R is the only one I watch. It has the best writers on daytime. SOme good old fashioned storylines about family, romance and social issues.

is addicted to that show.

In regards to crime too, people you'd never suspect of being a criminal often are. LOL.

15. Oh I'm very addicted to those shows
and I've seen most of them a couple of times. And I also love Law & Order and all the spin-offs.

Shoot, they'll seen one of my long red hairs and know instantly. Or they take a fiber from your car and match it up to you. This only reinforces that crime doesn't pay.
