Make a tough choice for one of these great bands.

2. In truth, I voted for War too.
I saw the 21st century version of them at SummerFest a couple of years ago.

I rather listen to either of these bands over 50 cent anyday.

10. Um, "Everyday People" alone should bring in the votes.
Come on! Sly & the Family Stone MUST be victorious, you Philistines!

15. It's Friday night and DU is big, lots of newbies and lurkers-for me both
are equal, I could just as easily voted for Sly, and I was shocked when he hadn't a vote in the first few minutes. I guess I was in one of my "Me and Baby Brother" moments rather than "I Want To Take You Higher"...I love both of these bands equally and enjoy covering Sly's stuff on drums:smoke:

13. First RECORD I ever bought...
was the 45 "Spill the Wine" by Eric Burdon and War...I liked the War stuff with him, otherwise it's Sly although he was pretty flakey when I saw him in concert...

16. Hey, he caused a riot due to a no show because of his drug problems
it was 1970 SummerFest-that's a sad fact of musical history.

17. Is that a separate one from the one in Chicago at Grant Park?
Because my uncle was at that one. He said people were waiting and someone threw a smoke bomb on the stage and people thought the cops were coming out to bust everyone or something and a riot started. Some guys tried to mug him for this ring he was wearing that was borrowed, and he pretended like he couldn't get it off his finger until they gave up and went away.

21. It was in Milwaukee. Sly was a heroin addict and unreliable then.
But this was in my old hometown-Milwaukee. Down at SummerFest.

19. Tough choice, but I chose Sly and The Family Stone.
I actually bought their Greatest Hits cassette at least five times when I was younger. It was extended length and kept breaking.
