What I don't understand about monster movies today
Where the fuck is everybody? They always send seven or fewer underarmed dopes in a dark place to go after the monsters.

Remember back in the day when the scientists discovered the monster he or she called in the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines?

Goddamn budget for fighting scary monsters was cut big time.

And the fucking Republicans say they want to keep us safe....

7. That movie scared the crap out of me when I was little
The big giant ants. I can't beleive my mother made us watch that stuff when we were kids. I say she made us watch because she was the one that controlled the set and if we wanted to watch tv, we watched what she wanted. I know it's hokey now but Lost in Space is another one that freaked me out big time. To this day I don't like to watch monster movies.

4. I've given up on modern Hollywood..
Look at the crap they've released over the past three years: remakes galore. Does that mean that, with all the supposed talen in Hollywood, not a single person there has an original idea worthy of pursuing? I mean, we've had remakes of "Texas Chainsaw", "Amityville", "House of Wax", "Starsky & Hutch", and on and on and on.
Since joining Netflix, I've started watching the classics again with Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and older horror movies. I'm burned out on seeing this crap Hollywood keeps regurgitating.

5. "Godzilla"
wants way too much $ to re-destroy Tokyo. Actors and their egos are ruining the business.

6. In the 50s
I think monsters (read "Communists") were seen as more of an external threat, requiring a massive response. At other times, they've been seen as more of a symbol of parts of ourselves we don't want to acknowledge or deal with.

The only good monster is a dead monster (except on Sesame Street).
