I just found out that John Mills died on Saturday.
What a loss, what a great actor. :cry:

His most famous role is proably in Ryan's Daughter, but if you get a chance, check out Hobson's Choice--a gem of a movie, and great acting all around.

He was 97.

He was great in Ryan's daughter but I haven't seen Hobson's Choice.

2. David Lean directed it...it also stars Brenda Bazine (sp?) and Charles
Laughton...it's a riot, and very sweet.

For Fawlty Towers fans, there's also a very young Prunella Scales in a supporting role.

3. Is he Hayley Mills' father?
She was in "The Parent Trap" and "Polyanna." Hayley Mills is a year or two older than I am and I had a HUGE long-distance fan crush on her when I was about 12.

4. Yes...Juliette Mills is also his daughter--Nanny and the Professor,
and then when she was in her 40's, she started a scandulous affair with the 20-year-old star of Grease 2. Can't think of his name.

I say scanduous, but it's not scandulous to me--good for her!
