Men Dig Up Tree - Find $100,000.00 In Burried Treasure

METHUEN, Mass. -- Two men digging up a small tree in Methuen, Massachusetts, found more than just roots.

The men uncovered a wooden box, which contained nine rusty tin cans filled with one-, two- and 20-dollar bills. There were about 1,800 bills in all, dating from 1899 to 1929. There also were some gold and silver certificates as well as notes from local banks at the time.

It all added up to more than $100,000.

The men took the money to an antique dealer, who checked to make sure it wasn't counterfeit.

There are several theories as to who buried the treasure, including bootleggers or maybe bank robbers.

3. Humm the utility company is digging outside my window.......

to replace a tree they cut down last year. They cut down a 55 yr old maple tree by accident. They have been out there a long time...must go see if they found some hidden cash.
