2. Rice-cereal? Good stuff,
what's the occasion?

Good luck getting the wall up BTW. I had some firewall problems several months ago. I had to reboot my entire system to get rid of it...pain in the ass.

11. Firewall just went up..
and it has to be rice-cereal (like Rice Crispies or Cocoa Crispies) because of Passover. Though there is a debate over rice, I eat it anyway.

3. Relaxing with my cat after a stressful day
with many work-related hazards on a bad night's sleep while a bit under the weather and boggled by my personal life.

It's amazing how restorative time with a purring cat can be. :)

4. My evening
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 06:51 PM by Bok_Tukalo
Cleaning my apartment, doing some laundry, writing a letter (a real one, not email), paying some bills, read for an hour, make dinner, sit down and watch a movie; 'Logan's Run' since another post asking for a local landmark made me think of it.

Oh, and the nightly grooming ritual before bed.

10. Hulen Mall in Ft Worth
The last scene was what I was thinking of which was filmed at the water gardens in Ft Worth. It also has a shot of the Dallas City Hall.

But fuck Dallas. It sucks. Sorry I sullied a small conversation about the greatest city in Texas by mentioning its neighbor to the east.

31. What are you reading??
I'm reading "Julia" by Peter Straub, and it's a REALLY GOOD mystery. Plus, I'm a sucker. I don't know from mysteries. I like true crime. Also, I'd appreciate the details of the "nightly grooming ritual".

:bounce:

If you don't mind. I hope it doesn't involve a feeding tube or a catheter.

33. "Towing Jehovah" by James Morrow
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 07:50 PM by Bok_Tukalo
It's about the death of God. And He has fallen into the sea. A supertanker is dispached to tow the (two-mile long) Corpse to the Antarctic.

It's actually very interesting fantastic fiction.

His "Bible Stories for Adults" is better. A collection of short fiction. A scene from a story where Job comes back pissed at God:

JOB: Have you ever considered the taxonomy of turds?

FRANNY: What? (Offended)Cerainly not.

JOB: At the very bottom: dogshit. The lowest of the low-ragpickers, bag ladies, and people who hang out on dung heaps. When you treat somebody like dogshit, your contempt knows no bounds. Next we have chickenshit. Chickenshit allows for a certain humanity. A chickenshit may be a disgusting coward, but at least he's not dogshit. Bullshit comes after that-blatant and aggressive untruths. But at a certain level, of course, we admire our liars, don't we? Bullshitters get elected, chickenshits never. At the top of the hierarchy, at the summit of the heap: horseshit. Horseshit is false too, but it's not manifestly false. Horseshit is subtle. It's nuanced. Horseshit plays to win. Horseshit fools some of the people some of the time. Divine justice, for example, is horseshit, not bullshit. Indeed, we hold horseshit in such esteem that we decline to bestow the epitath on one another. A person can be a bullshitter but only a horse can be a horseshitter.

My ablutions are pretty ordinary,I would think. Brush teeth, floss, scrub face with special soap du jour, trim nails, search and destroy random and excitable hair in odd places, clean ears, shower, wash hair, rinse and repeat. Like everyone else.

And I'm feeling much better thanks.

if you don't want to.

Me I'm having a couple of beers, reflecting on a few things, wondering about all my relationships (both on-line and in RL).

Sometimes it's the little things that make life the most complex.

13. Hey! I'm responding to an "impudent" thread in GD and
recovering from my sunburn and forgetting to eat dinner. Fortunately, I have my vitamins taken care of. My cat's being a little asshole (but I love her in that mood!) I'm thinking of writing some more.

I did a lot of writing and drawing at the beach. We flew kites. I can't even describe how cute my best friend was, trying to get that kite up. We drank V8 splash mixed w/ whiskey. We yakked to complete strangers.

Work tomorrow. Suddenly I'm a photographer and not just a graphic designer. THINK IT'S EASY? Hell, no. I took two good pics in 8 hours.

How're you, pet?

inspired by all the going's on this weekend.

You wuss, photography is easy, painting is hard work!

I could tell you about my weekend in Boston, but that would take up too much bandwidth.

Hope you had a good weekend with the girls yourself, and I hope we can exchange some more drawings again soon.

Your love,

Peter What.

15. I feel like an old man
because I am. I shaved, warshed me feets soaked my hair....no no. Soaked my aching feet washed my hair, shaved, bathed. Then I went to the Green Frog where I bought a cup of coffee (Todays coffee was free). Then I drove over to the shore of Lake Erie where I drank my coffee, Garded the Canada/US border, played Mozart really loud.

Then I drove down to the Quality Market did a little grocery shopping. Went home visited my wife a while then I took my nebulizor medicine. Later I had supper. Then I posted a narrative poem in the poets group. Now I am here.

Isn't that exciting?

29. Yeah, it's not too bad
I'm living here for free. They helped me settle a lot of credit card debt, and I'm paying them back, but my dad said that if I really want to move out, he'll forgive the rest that I owe them (a couple grand). And he said he'll continue to pay my car insurance. :)

I'm going on this making about $1200/month (really it's more like $1350, but I'm pretending it's $1200). I can find a place that's around $400/month, that's not in the ghetto, closer to work so less gas usage. And I'm assuming I'll be spending $100/month on electric/water (I've never spent that much before, but with gas going up I'm not sure).

It'll be just me and my 2 cats, so not much for food. And it's not like I go shopping much anyways.

I figure since I'm surviving with giving my parents half my income each month, I'll be able to make it in an apartment.

I am saving to buy a new car (Beetle TDI), so that may be put off awhile, but that's okay too.

35. I'm at work - "interesting" day
First, my co-worker was let go. Complete shock to everyone. Our Lab Manager. These guys/gals are supposed to be the first to be hired, last to be fired. I'm bummed out. And a little scared about my own position.

Then, the security alarm goes off and I don't have the code to turn it off. Wasted about 2 hours with that, calling people and monitoring temperature alarms in the server room.

Other than that, not much.

Found this neat picture, though...
