I actually have had good luck in GD in the past. I would pose a more or less intelligent question and receive more or less polite responses. And as flamewars go, this is rather cordial (so far) and interesting and more or less fun compared to the bloodlettings they're famous for. Still, considering that I basically leaped straight to my conclusion, it didn't seem like it would take all this verbiage either to rebut or to agree with. Kind of cool in a way.

everybody's totally reasonable and more or less companionable. (I was misled by some of the subject lines, which seemed distinctly flaming.) Do you think that maybe if questions are phrased in a non-confrontational manner then maybe GDers can debate as calmly as anybody else?
