Constantine Ousted From 'Idol' In Series Bombshell
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1500913/20050428/index.jhtml?headlines=true

New York rocker left shell-shocked by results; Abdul sheds tears for her fave.

No season of "American Idol" would be complete without at least one. Last year, it was LaToya London. The season before, Trenyce. But not even the most fanatical of the reality show's staunch disciples could've foreseen Wednesday night's results stunner.

In what could go down in the "American Idol" record books as the phenomenon's single greatest upset, New York native Constantine Maroulis — who was considered one of this season's strongest contenders from his first performance — was given the proverbial elbow, narrowing the contest's finalist field to five.

As host Ryan Seacrest delivered this week's results, his words were met with a collective gasp, followed by boos from the flummoxed live audience. The show's trio of judges was left thunderstruck; for one of them, Paula Abdul, it was Niagara Falls — tears that revealed who her favorite has been. The brokenhearted judge even went to the ousted "Idol" contestant's assembled family and friends in the audience to offer comfort to Maroulis' mother.

2. If it weren't for the fraudsters, Scott would be gone
and Constantine would still be in there.

4. Scott Savol should've never made the top 12.......
He is simply not that good a singer.

11. You know that website is giving the producers ulcers
I have no illusion that "Vote for the Worst" is going to push Scott much further up the ranks although I can see him outlasting Anthony next week.

That said I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that at least two contestants with more talent in the last three weeks have been sent home partly as a result of this gag/scam.

22. Exactly, it's fraud, plain and simple......
I remember when Big Brother made it's debut, and we had to PAY for those phone call votes ! The only problem was that the "most interesting" usually stayed, and the "most likable" were voted off.

I think AI needs to get rid of the call-in votes, and go strictly with a panel of judges, like in figure skating, which is also subjective.

Oh well, afterall, AI is on the FOX channel !

8. Mine too
Bad vocals, bad impressions, no actual personality but only faking. He seemed to think he was Jim Morrision. I hated all of the pouting. I am so glad that he is gone.

5. How could the judges be "thunderstruck" when they voted him off?
I mean, they are the judges, right.

7. nope
They offer comments on performances but the winner is decided by viewers who call in. The judges have no control over it and find out when we do. Or at least that is the official story.

I'll admit it I am a wimp. My wife won't let me rip on this show while she is watching it so I have to post my jokes on it here. Imagine me sitting there for an hour having to bite my lip. It is pure hell.
