Things I'll miss (and won't miss) about Pittsburgh
Things I'll miss:
1. My school chums Virginia, Melanie, Doug and Kelley
2. All the trees, hills and flowers
3. Snow (when I can stay home)
4. Law school
5. Living amongst a Democratic majority
6. Relatively pleasant summer temperatures
7. The friendly people
8. Bob Evans (but Texas has Owens)
9. Eat 'n Park waffles
10. No sales tax on clothing

Things I won't miss:
1. Having to drive WAAAAAAAYYYYY out to the airport
2. The wretched street signs (or lack thereof)
3. City taxes (do they have these in Texas??)
4. The Steelers (once a Niners fan, always a Niners fan)
5. Freezing my derriere off in winters
6. Potholes
7. Snow (when I have to get out)
8. Terrible traffic patterns and having to go out of my way to get
somewhere because of the bridges, etc.
9. Pierogies (although I never tried one)
10. Having Santorum and Specter as my senators (but out of the frying
pan...)

:dilemma:

Now it's time to make the big bucks. Have you got a job lined up?

6. Not yet
Concentrating on the bar exam first. I'm in a fortunate position in that I don't have any student loans and can be choosy about what I do.

7. You are very fortunate
I'm going to be paying off school loans for the next ten years unless I hit the lottery and I didn't even graduate.

Good luck on the bar exam and here's to the big bucks :toast:

3. Because I am wired and can't go to sleep, I'll address these one by one
Things I'll miss:
1. My school chums Virginia, Melanie, Doug and Kelley - Can't replace the school buddies
2. All the trees, hills and flowers - True, from April to November we have got it good, but damn - those other months, there is little more bleak (this side of Siberia) than all those hill sides barren in the winter; doubly so with snow (see point 3, infra)
3. Snow (when I can stay home) - yup.
4. Law school - I will miss the general vibe of the place, but certain individuals, both student and adminstration, will not be missed one iota.
5. Living amongst a Democratic majority - Yeah, thats a good thing, although today I ventured out into Murraysville (suburban hell) and felt cowed by awll the W stickers on cars.
6. Relatively pleasant summer temperatures - The tempatures here are not the problem, its the goddamn humidity that will kill you.
7. The friendly people - I missed them when i was in NYC - glad to have them back.
8. Bob Evans (but Texas has Owens) - Yeah, but Evans is no eat and park (see below)
9. Eat 'n Park waffles - Eat 'n Park: the official restaurant of my law school finals.
10. No sales tax on clothing - Wouldnt want to encourage nekkidness in PA.

Things I won't miss:
1. Having to drive WAAAAAAAYYYYY out to the airport - Seriously, WTF is that, i may as well fly out of friggin cleveland
2. The wretched street signs (or lack thereof): You think they are bad now, you should have seen it 15 years ago when they replaced the white and soot colored signs with the bright blue and white ones.
3. City taxes (do they have these in Texas??) - Tell me about it, but hey, someone has to subsidize all the nice facilities for the suburban kids (shit, i beat the hell out of city facilities while i was a kid growing up in the east suburbs)
4. The Steelers (once a Niners fan, always a Niners fan) - Here we go Steelers, Here we go!!!
5. Freezing my derriere off in winters - You still have a derriere? I lost mine in the winter of 1993
6. Potholes - yeah - having a suspension on my car and teeth in my mouth would be nice
7. Snow (when I have to get out) - Nah, the port authority gets me everywhere: snow, rain, brimstone, or budget crisis - no, strike the alst one
8. Terrible traffic patterns and having to go out of my way to get
somewhere because of the bridges, etc.: Yeah, arent they great - its the inside edge for those who won't conform to the pack's driving methods
9. Pierogies (although I never tried one): What a precious little dumpling
10. Having Santorum and Specter as my senators (but out of the frying
pan...): Working on that one, seriously!

BTW - if you enjoy cold, cheap beer and semi-nude dancers, we will be down at Bare Elegance on May 11th @12:30 pm for a post-law school luncheon and beers if you are interested; Look for me - i'll be hammered.

Where are you off to anyway?

4. I'm off to Dallas to rejoin my husband
He started a job at Southwestern Medical Center last August (he's a psychiatrist), and I stayed here for 3L because I love school and didn't want to leave it for just one year. I don't have a job; I'm just focused on taking (and passing) the Texas bar. We have a house in Irving (in Valley Ranch, home of the Cowboys; BARF), and I'm really looking forward to leaving my dinky apartment and living in my brand spanking new home!

I don't drink and don't enjoy nude or semi-nude dancers, so I'll probably pass on the 11th shindig. I'll be furiously packing up my apartment and running myriad errands prior to leaving town on the 17th or 18th. Thanks, though!

What are your post-graduation plans? Are you staying here? Are you planning to attend graduation? We're flying back for it and then driving (again) to Dallas for good.
