Blessed Beltain to our pagan DUers
Everybody get outside today and celebrate the life all around you.

Blessed be.

P.S. I hope none of the Lounge Lizards got stolen away by the queen of the fairies last night. ;)

damp but the sun is shining.

We will have a fire and I have some herbs to plant and then I think I'll howl at the moon.

What is a good meal to fix to have the most blessed Beltain?

:o

Edit because my fingers aren't working yet. Better go get some coffee.

13. I went to Catholic grammar school in the 60s, and we would have...
a Maypole dedicated to the Virgin Mary (whose statue was covered in flowers) as The Queen of the Angels on May 1st. We were told that May was the month of Mary the Holy Virgin. All the kids would make paper flowers, and collect whatever real flowers we could get our hands on, for the procession of the statue to the base of the Maypole. After we finished winding the Maypole we would eat lunch outside (weather permitting) and have the rest of the afternoon to play games and have contests. It was the best Holy Day of the year.

It wasn't until I was MUCH older that I discovered that the pagan roots of that festival (like so many other Christian festivals) were much more ancient than Christianity, and didn't have much to do with Mary at all. Still, it was a fun holiday for us kids.
